CAMBRIDGE HOMICIDE BEING INVESTIGATED BY MARYLAND STATE POLICE AND LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT

Cambridge, MD - On October 20, 2024, at approximately 7:02 pm, officers from the Cambridge Police Department received a Shot Spotter Alert for multiple shots being fired in the 600 block of Pine St in Cambridge, Maryland.

Upon arrival, Officers located a 26-year-old male victim with multiple gunshot wounds. Officers attempted to render medical aid to the victim until Dorchester County EMS arrived. However, he was pronounced deceased shortly after that.

The male victim has been identified as Virgil Emanual Simms IV. Officers located several vehicles that were also damaged by gunfire, as well as multiple recovered spent shell casings.

The Maryland State Police Homicide Unit was requested to respond to investigate the incident with the assistance of the Cambridge Police Department Criminal Investigation Division and the Maryland State Police Crime Scene Unit.

Additionally, Troopers, including K9 Units from the Maryland State Police and the Dorchester County Sheriff's Office, assisted in the initial investigation and secured the crime scene.
