Cambridge, MD - On February 24, 2025, a passerby stumbled upon a fire on Greenwood Avenue in Cambridge, Maryland. Two large commercial dumpsters, located between buildings 504 and 506, were on fire.

Rescue Fire Company (Station 1) was the primary fire department that responded, sending out 25 firefighters to manage the situation. Despite the alarming nature of the incident, the fire department had the flames under control in just 20 minutes.

While the area surrounding the dumpsters was strewn with a variety of items, including furniture, it was the dumpsters themselves that remained at the heart of the fire. Reports estimate the damage to these structures to be around $5,000.

As the fire raged, it managed to inflict some harm on apartments in both buildings 504 and 506 Greenwood Avenue. However, it is important to note that the fire did not lead to any displacement of residents, a silver lining in the narrative of an otherwise grim incident.

The cause of the fire is presently under investigation, leaving a veil of mystery over the origin of the incident. Authorities are appealing to the public for information about the fire. The Deputy State Fire Marshals ask anyone with knowledge of the event to contact them at 410-713-3780, promising that callers can remain anonymous.
