ARREST MADE IN CAROLINE COUNTY SHOOTING THAT LEFT 71 YEAR OLD MAN WITH INJURIES

Caroline County, MD - Deputies from the Caroline County Sheriff's Office recently investigated a shooting that took place on Ruritan Road, Denton, Maryland, on February 6, 2025.

During that incident, deputies found two injured individuals, a 71-year-old man with a gunshot wound, and a 68-year-old man, who has now been identified as Alfred G. Harris, suffering from a broken ankle.

Alfred Harris was recently released from the hospital and taken into custody by the Dover Police Department. Harris was held at the Sussex Correctional Institution, pending his extradition to Maryland.

Upon conclusion of the investigation, the Criminal Investigation Division of the Caroline County Sheriff's Office filed multiple charges against Harris at the Caroline County District Court Commissioner, leading to the issuance of an arrest warrant.

On February 17, 2025, Harris was extradited back to Caroline County, Maryland, and was served with an arrest warrant. He faces multiple charges, including Attempted 2nd Degree Murder, First Degree Assault, Second Degree Assault, Possession of a Shotgun following a conviction for a disqualifying crime, Reckless Endangerment, and Intoxicated Endangerment.

Mr. Harris was presented to the Caroline County District Court Commissioner for his first appearance, during which he was moved to the Caroline County Detention Center without bond, pending a judge's review.
