ARREST MADE IN CAROLINE COUNTY SAVE A LOT GROCERY STORE SHOOTING

Caroline County, MD - The Criminal Investigation Division of Caroline County Sheriff's Office confirmed the arrest of Jeffery Joseph Smith Sr., a 47-year-old man from Baltimore, Maryland, on February 24, 2025, on the charges of first-degree assault, second-degree assault, possession of a handgun in a vehicle, possession of a loaded handgun in a vehicle, and reckless endangerment.
The charges are tied to a shooting that unfolded in a Save-A-Lot grocery store parking lot in Greensboro, Maryland, earlier this month.
The incident occurred on February 12, 2025, and through the course of the subsequent investigation, Smith was identified on surveillance footage. The video captured Smith discharging a firearm at another individual trying to flee the scene.
Following his arrest, Smith appeared before the Caroline County District Court Commissioner for his initial hearing. He was subsequently remanded to the Caroline County Detention Center without bond.
