ACCIDENTAL ELECTRICAL DEVICE FAILURE CAUSES WICOMICO COUNTY FIRE

Wicomico County, MD-On Tuesday, November 19, 2024, a structure fire broke out in a single-family dwelling in the 6000 block of Quantico Road in Wicomico County, Maryland. The incident was reportedly caused by an accidental electrical device failure originating from an interior bedroom.


The primary responding fire department was the Hebron Volunteer Fire Department, which sent a team of 30 firefighters to extinguish the blaze.


The fire, which took approximately 20 minutes to control, inflicted substantial damage to both the property's structure and its contents. Estimates suggest the structure suffered damage worth around $30,000, while the contents lost are valued at about $15,000.


The fire was discovered by an occupant of the dwelling, enabling a rapid response by the fire department. Also noteworthy are the commendable efforts of Maryland Forestry, who took early suppression action in the area, thereby minimizing the extent of fire damage.
