7-YEAR OLD STUDENT BRINGS UNLOADED HANDGUN TO SCHOOL ON TUESDAY IN SALISBURY, MARYLAND

Wicomico County, MD - An incident involving a handgun was reported at Beaver Run Elementary School in Salisbury, Maryland, today. According to a voicemail sent to parents, a first-grade student was found with an unloaded handgun in their possession. The student involved is seven years old.


The Wicomico County Sheriff's Office, in collaboration with Wicomico County Public Schools, is investigating the occurrence. The incident came to light when a teacher noticed the firearm with the student prior to school dismissal.


Acting promptly, the teacher and school administration executed appropriate safety protocols, ensuring the situation was contained.


These protocols included alerting public school officials, law enforcement, and notifying parents about the situation. Beaver Run Elementary School and Wicomico County Public Schools are fully cooperating with the authorities as the investigation continues.
