18-YEAR OLD ARRESTED FOLLOWING HOME INVASION IN CAMBRIDGE

Cambridge, MD-On March 16, 2025, an incident of violence led to the arrest of 18-year-old Taybrion Laquan Wongus on charges stemming from a home invasion. The altercation occurred around 3:38 p.m. on the 700 block of Cornish Drive, prompting a swift response from officers of the Cambridge Police Department (CPD).


According to reports, Wongus arrived at a residence and aggressively knocked on the door before forcibly entering. Once inside, he is accused of physically assaulting a second victim, reportedly punching, kicking, and choking them. During the altercation, Wongus allegedly caused significant damage to the property.


The assault escalated when the victim attempted to escape to a vehicle for safety. Wongus pursued the individual and continued the attack, preventing them from leaving. Bystanders intervened, separating Wongus from the victim. He then fled the scene recklessly in a vehicle.


City surveillance cameras captured footage that corroborates the reported events both at the door and outside the residence. Later, the victim sought medical treatment at the University of Maryland Shore Medical Center in Cambridge.


Following an investigation, CPD officers obtained an arrest warrant for Wongus from the Court Commissioner. On the morning of March 17, 2025, at approximately 9:19 a.m., Wongus was located and apprehended by police.


He was processed at CPD headquarters before appearing for his initial hearing.


Wongus was charged with the following:

  • Home Invasion
  • Assault 1st Degree
  • Assault 2nd Degree
  • Malicious Destruction of Property (2 counts)


Wongus was subsequently transferred to the Dorchester County Department of Corrections, where he is being held without bond.
