On June 3, 2021, after a three (3) day trial, a Wicomico County Jury convicted Kelsey Hull, age 31, of Snow Hill, Maryland, of Theft Over $100,000 and Embezzlement. The Honorable Kathleen L Beckstead, Chief Judge of the Circuit Court for Wicomico County, sentenced Kelsey Hull to three and a half years in the Division of Corrections.
Between December 2017 and August 2018, Kelsey Hull, who was the Warehouse and Operations Manager for Canada Dry in Salisbury, Maryland, embezzled over $150,000 by overbilling a company credit card and issuing refunds to her various PayPal accounts, subsequently depositing the funds to her bank account.
Wicomico County State’s Attorney (SA) Jamie L. Dykes specifically thanked Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office Detective William Oakley, the lead investigator. SA Dykes also thanked Assistant State’s Attorney Lauren Bourdon, who prosecuted this case.
SA Dykes said “Too often, employee theft destroys businesses. Ms. Hull’s conviction and sentence should serve as a deterrent to others inclined to violate of the position of trust afforded them by their employers”.
In addition to her 3.5 years sentence in the Division of Corrections, Hull was ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $150,350.00 to Canada Dry of Delaware Valley and Potomac Corporation.
