On November 4, 2020, a Wicomico County jury found John Matthew Woodlin, 51 years of age, formerly of Salisbury, Maryland, guilty of one (1) count of sex abuse of a minor, two (2) counts of rape, two (2) counts each of sex offense third and fourth degree and one (1) count of assault second degree after a jury trial presided over by the Honorable D. William Simpson, Senior Judge.
Judge Simpson ordered a pre-sentence investigation and mental health evaluation. Woodlin was already registered as a Tier III sex offender at the time of this offense. Woodlin sexually abused the victim, who was under the age of twelve, in September 2019, in Salisbury, Wicomico County, Maryland.
Wicomico County State’s Attorney (SA) Jamie L. Dykes commended the members of Wicomico County Child Advocacy Center (CAC) for their work in the investigation, specifically thanking Wicomico Sheriff’s Office investigator Sergeant T. Funk, assigned to the CAC. SA Dykes also commended Senior Assistant State’s Attorney Diane Karsnitz, who prosecuted this case.
