JAMES M BENNETT HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT IDENTIFIED AS SUSPECT IN SCHOOL THREAT

Salisbury, MD – On January 25, 2023, just prior to school dismissal, Deputies from the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office were advised of a note being located inside of James M Bennett High School with a threatening message.

School Resource Deputies worked with Wicomico County Public Schools personnel to make sure the school was safe, and that no harm would come to students or staff.

Through an extensive investigation, a suspect was developed. The suspect would be identified as being a 16-year old female student of James M Bennett High School.

Due to the subject’s age, a Juvenile Referral was completed, and the juvenile was released to the custody of their guardian pending disposition by the Department of Juvenile Services.

Since January 20, 2023, the Sheriff’s Office has investigated four threatening notes located in County Schools.
