Clifton Jones Arrested & Charged with Murder for Saturday Night Shooting

On Saturday, April 24th, 2021, Deputies from the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the 1200 block of Pocahontas Avenue in Salisbury, Maryland in reference to a shooting. This incident was covered live on Eastern Shore Undercover’s Social Media pages.

Upon arriving, Deputies observed Jerome Moss laying in the front yard suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Witnesses identified Clifton Jones as the person who shot Moss. Jones was located inside of a residence, where he was subsequently taken into custody.

The investigation revealed Moss and other individuals were at the residence when Jones retrieved a firearm and shot Moss multiple times. The firearm was wrestled away from Jones and he was held until police arrived.

Moss was transported to Tidal Health PRMC where he was pronounced deceased. The Criminal Investigation Division responded and assumed the investigation. A Search and Seizure Warrant was authored and executed on the residence where Jones was located. Detectives recovered the firearm identified as the murder weapon.

Jones is currently being held without bond at the Wicomico County Detention Center. Jones has been charged with 1st Degree Murder, 2nd Degree Murder, 1st Degree Assault and Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony.

The investigation is ongoing.
